ABOUT ME

Hi, My name is Riham Rihani. I’m a substitute teacher at ACS, I sub for different grade levels starting from Pk - HS. More of being a sub teacher is that on one day I can be a librarian, on another day I can be a receptionist. I like it because I get to see the students in different situations and locations within the school. Since I don’t have a regular class, I like to learn how to use different strategies for creativity to keep the students uniquely engaged in the classwork during my presence. When they finish their class assignment, I have to keep them engaged till the class is over because some students try to take advantage of the sub by trying to change the sequence of instructions that the original teacher had planned for.

I like creativity and how teachers can apply it and so I want to stretch more on it and want to learn how it can be a daily classroom practice.

I brag about being a Master of Science student in Education - Creative Problem Solving- is my 6th course with SUNY. I believe I did my best seeking theory and practice through this hands-on course which was very useful and unique. It is through this course that I developed my abilities and skills for creativity. I’m more than interested in the application of creativity. I think everyone should be familiar with it, not just teachers or/and educators.

I value and understand the importance of creative learning in the classroom. I practise creative teaching because I believe that 21st century learners need 21st century teachers. As a teacher I should prepare my learners to be creative and critical thinkers so they can face the daily challenge and change.
